On the Edge of Sanity

Horror and madness have always been part of the worlds of D&D. A mad king must be cured or removed. A magician’s mind is broken by forbidden knowledge. An evil artifact drives its wielder slowly but steadily insane.

These expanded rules for horror and madness can be used in most settings and made to fit most flavours of the game, such as dark, heroic or epic fantasy, sword & sorcery, intrigue, mystery or war.

Instead of taking an “all or nothing” approach, where a character often risks going mad at the roll of a single dice, these rules allow for gradual mental change. Characters must try to keep their sanity over time. Their descent through horror towards madness is tracked, with great opportunities for role-playing – and suspense guaranteed.

The material can be used for both PCs and NPCs and not least to create riveting stories.

This 22-page product for D&D 5e draws on earlier D&D material on the subject but introduces a new system linking horror and madness and expands greatly on the source material. It contains:

⦁ New rules for tracking a character’s mental state and the descent towards madness.
⦁ New, expanded and rebalanced short-term and long-term horror effects, as well as indefinite madness effects.
⦁ Expanded material for Sanity checks and saves, recovering from and curing madness, adapted class features and a new sanity-based feat.
⦁ DM game material to use right away, including draughts and other drinks, magical items that cause or protect from horror and madness, and a new horrifying version of a classic monster.

Dark Wish

Times are dire. The buried are rising from their graves and even the shadows are taking on a life of their own.

Seducer – Rogue Archetype

A new Rogue Archetype for D&D 5e: the seducer/seductress, also called rake.

This archetype plays a prominent role in many legends and stories. Who has not heard of Casanova, Cleopatra, Salome or Don Juan? Or enjoyed the countless seducers appearing on film and TV, from femmes fatales – think Basic Instinct – to James Bond or Firefly’s Inara … As long as there are humans (and similar races), there will be seducers and seductresses. No campaign world is complete without its own prominent examples.

Four pages detail the seducer archetype and how to build such a character – either as a PC or an NPC. Also included is a short discussion on how to run and handle seduction attempts in-game and, of course, a new set of unique features for the archetype.
